We started to conduct pilot trainings under EU-Financed ERASMUS+ Project
where Turkish Federation of Commercial Drivers and Vehicle Owners Acts a Partner
We act as the partner of the Project namely “E-learning and Web Applications for ADR Driver Training” (No: 2017-1-TR01-KA202-45935) implemented under the leadership of Pamukkale University under the scope of the EU’s Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships in the field of Vocational Education. We started to conduct our pilot trainings under this Project.
Other partners of our Project are as follows: Training 2000 psc, a training institution specialized in ADR training in Italy; CNA Associazione Provinciale di Pesaro e Urbino, a non-governmental organization sheltering commercial vehicle drivers as its members in Italy again; COSGROUP (Mag Prenner & Partner GmbH), an institution rendering ADR trainings in Austria. The Project has been implemented under close cooperation of the Partners with a view to achieve the project objectives. SUPSI (University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland) who is a participant of the Project and is expected to make contribution in the development of distance teaching materials and e-materials in particular during this process.
The following activities were performed so far under our Project whose implementation started in December 2017:
* A study was conducted on the driver profile and the applicable legislation and practices concerning ADR drivers in partner countries (Turkey, Italy and Austria).
* Distance teaching methods and materials used in the ADR training in these countries were collected.
* The list of private and public institutions which are engaged in the field of ADR in these countries was prepared.
* The competences which are required for ADR drivers were determined.
* Draft e-materials to be used for distance teaching materials on the basis of these competences were prepared.
* A training methodology documentation shedding light to the training program, method, participant profile, training materials, etc. which are necessary for pilot trainings was prepared.
Then the training methods and materials will be tested and they will be finalized in the following stages of our Project.
As of April 2019, the pilot trainings planned under the Project have been conducted in all of the three countries. Under this scope, the first pilot training (ADR driver pre-test training)) falling under the responsibility of Turkish side was conducted under the coordination of TSOF in Antalya on April 4, 2019 with the participation of driver candidates (7 individuals) who will carry hazardous substance.
During the training activity performed in the SRC Training Center of Antalya Chamber of Drivers and Vehicle Drivers, the Project was introduced firstly; and then competence table and training methodology was explained. Then the distance teaching materials developed were introduced and the participants were made to use the materials. Following the training program which lasted whole day, the recommendations of the participants concerning the methods and materials were obtained and they were requested to fill evaluation surveys. Although some of the participants’ digital literacy was at minimum level, they were still able to use the materials and expressed that they found the materials
Under the scope of the same activity, second pilot training was provided to ADR driver trainers in Ankara between 25- 26 April 2019. Ms. Zerrin Boztas, the Deputy Secretary General of TSOF inaugurated the training which was realized with the participation of 16 people, half of whom were different provinces of Turkey. Information was given on the Project. The competence table, distance learning materials and methods were introduced. The participants had access to the e-materials through website of the Project and they continued to examine the materials at their homes in the evening. On the second day of the Training, all e-materials were examined and the opinions and the recommendations of the participants on the competence table and the e-materials were obtained.
The trainers welcomed the idea of the project and the activities performed very much. They provided their opinions and recommendations on the development of the materials into a form from which they can benefit most in the light of their experience in the field. The trainings were very interactive and fruitful and the materials will be revised in line with the opinions received. Finally, a 24-hour training will be held with ADR drivers. Following the final modifications, a guideline will be prepared on the use of the system and the materials.
